Participation Rules
1. Eligibility The competition is open to artists from around the world. 2. Medium of Artwork Artists may create their portrait using any medium, including but not limited to watercolor, charcoal, graphite, pencil, oil, acrylic, pastel, ink, mixed media, fabric, or any other traditional or contemporary technique. 3. Artwork Details Each submission must include the title of the artwork and a brief description (maximum 100 words) explaining the inspiration, concept, or technique. 4. File Naming Image files must be named using the participant's full registered name without special characters. 5. File Size Each image file must not exceed 10 MB. Participants are encouraged to optimize images for web upload without compromising quality. 6. Submission Requirements Each participant must submit three images: One final image of the completed artwork. Two progress photographs showing approximately 25% and 75% completion. Previously created artwork is permitted, provided the required progress photographs are available. All submitted artwork must be original. The artwork must have been created within the last two years. Submitting more or fewer than the required three images may result in disqualification. 7. Grand Finale The shortlisted finalists will advance to the Grand Finale, where they will create a portrait from a live model within a 4-hour time limit in Delhi. Finalists must also bring their Round One artwork for verification and exhibition. All artworks will be returned after the competition. 8. Finalists The number of finalists will be determined by the jury based on the quality and number of submissions received. 9. Selection Process Entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of esteemed artists through a fair and transparent judging process. The detailed scoring methodology will remain confidential. Any attempt to violate the rules or submit false information will result in immediate disqualification. 10. Code of Conduct Participants are expected to maintain respectful and professional conduct towards the judges, fellow artists, organizers, staff, and volunteers. Misconduct or inappropriate behavior may result in disqualification. 11. Copyright All submitted artwork must be the participant's original creation. By participating, artists grant the organizers the non-exclusive right to use submitted images for promotional, educational, archival, and publicity purposes with appropriate credit to the artist. 12. Communication Participants are responsible for ensuring their contact information remains accurate and for regularly checking their email for competition updates and announcements. 13. Artwork Ownership The original winning artwork of the Portrait Artist of the Year competition shall become the property of the organizers. The organizers reserve the right to display, reproduce, publish, and use the artwork for promotional, educational, and exhibition purposes. 14. Consent to Record All finalists participating in the Grand Finale consent to being photographed, filmed, and recorded throughout the event, including interviews and related activities. Such recordings may be used by the organizers for promotional and archival purposes. 15. Winner Eligibility The winner of the Portrait Artist of the Year competition will not be eligible to participate in the competition for the following three editions. 16. Rule Modifications The organizing committee reserves the right to amend, update, or introduce additional rules whenever necessary. Any changes will be communicated through official channels and shall be binding on all participants. 17. Event Cancellation or Postponement The organizers reserve the right to postpone, modify, or cancel the competition if circumstances beyond their control or quality standards require it. In such cases, registered participants will be informed promptly, and registration fees will be refunded where applicable. 18. Artist Declaration By submitting an entry, participants confirm that: The artwork is entirely their original creation. It does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party. All information provided during registration is accurate and truthful. Any violation of these declarations may result in immediate disqualification.

Q: I am not from India. Can I participate? A: Yes! Our competition welcomes entries from around the globe. Q: Is there a registration fee? A: The registration fee is ₹1,000. The fee must be paid online to confirm your participation. Once your registration is successful, you will receive a confirmation email along with your unique Registration ID. Q: What are the evaluation criteria? A: Every participant must agree to the Creator's Agreement, which protects both your rights as an artist and the rights of the competition organizers. The agreement will be available as a mandatory checklist during the registration process. Q: Can I participate individually? A: Yes. Only individual entries are permitted. Q: What happens to my artwork after the competition? A: You retain full ownership and copyright of your artwork. PPI will not request the original physical painting unless it is selected for an exhibition, showcase, or official display, in which case you will be contacted in advance. The winning artwork will be required to be submitted to PPI for official purposes. Q: What is the submission format? A: Please submit your artwork in JPG format with a minimum resolution of Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels). Q: Where do I upload my artwork? A: You can upload your artwork through the upload section provided in the online registration form. Q: How are so many submissions judged fairly? A: Every submission is independently evaluated by a panel of experienced judges using the published evaluation criteria, ensuring a fair, transparent, and unbiased assessment. Q: Is this an online competition, or do I need to be present in person? A: The competition begins online, allowing artists to participate from anywhere. Shortlisted finalists will be invited to attend the Grand Finale in person, where the final stage of the competition and the award ceremony will take place.
